Apply for a Vietnam Tourist Visa
There are two types of Vietnam tourist visas: DL or Evisa. Vietnam’s immigration law provides the following regulations for foreign tourists:
- DL Visa: Allows tourists to enter the country with a guarantee from an international travel agency.
- Evisa Tourist: This can be applied directly through the electronic system of the Immigration Department without a guarantor.
Additionally, citizens of certain countries may enter Vietnam under visa exemption, which can be unilateral or bilateral, for up to 90 days.
Tourist visa duration
- The DL Visa has a maximum validity of 3 months, but tourists can only stay for 30 days per entry.
- The Evisa has a maximum validity of 3 months, allowing tourists to stay continuously in Vietnam for up to 3 months.

Tips for applying for a Vietnam tourist visa
- Evisa is the best option
The simplest way for foreigners to visit Vietnam is by applying for an Evisa. Foreigners can apply on their own and enter Vietnam freely as they wish. Moreover, there is no limit to how many times you can apply for an Evisa. Whenever needed, foreigners can apply for a tourist Evisa at any time.
- Don’t overstay your visa
Overstaying a visa is an administrative violation, as it means the foreigner is illegally residing in Vietnam. Additionally, overstaying will make it difficult to extend the visa, and foreigners may be forced to leave Vietnam.
- Don’t use a DL visa for work
Many foreigners are using tourist visas to work, which is against regulations. A tourist visa is issued for sightseeing and travel purposes only. Using a tourist visa for work is a violation and can result in fines for both the foreigner and the company employing them. To work in Vietnam, a tourist visa must be converted to a work visa.
