Vietnam: World’s Top Heritage Destination for 5 Years
The title of World’s Leading Heritage Destination once again affirms Vietnam’s top potential and appeal, boasting a remarkable heritage with 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 15 intangible cultural heritages, and 10 documentary heritages recognized by UNESCO.
What is the World Travel Awards (WTA)?

Established in 1993, the WTA is often referred to as the “Oscars” of the tourism industry. The annual awards celebrate outstanding destinations, tourism authorities, and service providers across categories such as airlines, hotels, resorts, travel companies, and tourist attractions.
Now in its 31st edition, WTA awards operate on three levels: global (announced year-end), regional, and national. Voting is conducted online, with participants including travelers, experts, and CEOs in the tourism and travel sectors. Notably, votes from industry professionals are weighted double compared to regular votes.

Additionally, Vietnam has now claimed this title 5 times, with victories in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023, consistently surpassing strong competitors.
In September, WTA also awarded Vietnam as Asia’s Leading Destination, Leading Nature Destination, and Leading Heritage Destination for 2024, accounting for over 30% of the region’s total awards.
