9 Travel Trends for Tourists in 2025
The travel trend shows that older Vietnamese people will travel more next year to enjoy joyful moments with their families, rather than saving money to leave an inheritance for their children.
Booking.com, a booking platform with partners in 220 countries and territories, announced nine key travel trends for 2025 on November 28. The annual Travel Trends report, now in its 10th edition, surveyed over 27,000 travelers from 33 countries and territories, including Vietnam, to present an overall picture of travel for the coming year.
In 2025, Millennials (or Gen Y, born between 1981 and 1996) are set to change their perspectives on airport experiences, while Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) are pursuing adventurous journeys rather than saving money to pass on to future generations. “It is evident that people increasingly view travel as a way to self-discover and build deeper connections with the world,” the booking platform remarked.
Night travel

Nighttime leisure activities are predicted to be one of the nine trends shaping global travel in the coming year.
- 74% of Vietnamese travelers are interested in visiting destinations suitable for nighttime activities.
- 85% wish to stargaze and observe the Milky Way, while 74% want to study the stars.

- Additionally, 76% plan to avoid destinations with harsh sunlight to protect their skin from UV rays.
Multigenerational travel
Families are opting to spend quality time together rather than saving money.
- 44% of Vietnamese travelers are willing to splurge on a memorable trip in 2025.
- This trend is especially prominent among Baby Boomers, who prioritize travel over saving for future generations.
- Notably, 88% of Baby Boomers are happy to financially support their children’s travel plans.
Thrift shopping travel
Sustainable fashion will redefine vacation wardrobes in 2025.
- Stylish travelers are turning into “vintage hunters,” visiting thrift stores during their trips.
- 53% of travelers plan to explore second-hand shops, and 82% have already purchased pre-loved items while traveling abroad.
- With 65% aiming to travel on a budget and 83% focusing on cost-effective experiences, thrift shopping is becoming a vital part of the travel journey.
Men-only travel

2025 will see a rise in all-male travel groups or “male-only retreats.”
- Mental health awareness among men is driving this trend, with respondents highlighting:
- Escaping life pressures (49%)
- Rest and recovery (58%)
- Personal growth (46%)
- Interestingly, women are encouraging these trips, with 56% supporting their partners, 46% their friends, and 28% their fathers or brothers.

- 59% are eager to embrace AI-driven itinerary planning, while 79% use technology to discover unique destinations.
- Additionally, 27% will avoid geotagging on social media to protect lesser-known spots from overtourism.
Airport experience travel

The era of rushing to the airport just before departure to avoid long waits is over. Travelers are now planning their trips differently, seeking unique leisure activities at airports.
- 79% of Vietnamese travelers are curious about airports with distinctive facilities.
- Millennials and Gen Z travelers are even choosing destinations based on airport experiences, focusing on amenities like sleeping pods, spas, and Michelin-rated restaurants.
- Vacations now begin before passengers even board their flights. 83% of travelers believe that enhanced airport services and amenities will make their journeys more enjoyable and relaxing.
Longevity-focused travel

Driven by the desire for a healthier lifestyle, 77% of Vietnamese travelers are interested in vacations designed to promote longevity—offering a more premium experience compared to traditional wellness trips.
These vacations prioritize intensive recovery methods. 69% of travelers are willing to pay for trips that help extend their lifespan and improve overall well-being, making 2025 a milestone year for their journey toward longevity.
Experiences tailored for “special” travelers
This trend highlights the travel needs of smaller groups, such as individuals with ADHD or sensory sensitivities, whose specific demands were previously overlooked. However, this is set to change next year as destinations adapt to accommodate diverse needs.
- 78% of travelers wish for more noise-canceling solutions throughout their travel experiences.
- 77% of Vietnamese travelers hope for designated quiet zones for special-needs individuals at airports.
Ageless adventures
Baby Boomers are redefining travel in their golden years. Despite their age, they are stepping out of their comfort zones, embracing bold and adventurous experiences to live life to the fullest.
- 50% of respondents are excited about adrenaline-fueled activities like horseback riding, while 67% want to free themselves through vibrant parties.
This demonstrates that age is no longer a barrier to adventure. These trailblazers are reshaping the meaning of travel in later life
