International search volume for Vietnam tourism surges in early 2025
Aggregated data from Google Destination Insights shows a significant increase in international search volume for Vietnam tourism.
According to the Vietnam Tourism Information Center (under the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism), Vietnam is emerging as a highly attractive global destination, thanks to its relaxed visa policies, diverse tourism resources, and strong brand presence.

Google data reveals that international searches for tourist accommodations in Vietnam surged by 15% to 30% from late November 2024 to the end of January 2025 compared to the same period the previous year.
Notably, in the first half of February 2025, the international search volume continued to rise, increasing 30% to 45%. The top markets searching for Vietnam tourism include the United States, Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and Malaysia. These are also Vietnam’s key tourism markets across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.
Particularly, Australia and India ranking second and third in search volume highlight significant growth potential for these markets.

According to the Vietnam Tourism Information Center, this continues to be a positive signal for Vietnam’s tourism industry as it enters early 2025 after a breakthrough year in 2024.
In January 2025, Vietnam welcomed nearly 2.1 million international visitors, an 18.5% increase from the previous month and a 36.9% rise compared to January 2024. This marks a new record for the tourism industry, surpassing the nearly 2 million international arrivals recorded in January 2020. Compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic, the number of visitors in January 2025 was 37.8% higher.
The most searched destinations in Vietnam by international tourists include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Hue, and Vung Tau.

The growing demand from international tourists highlights the effectiveness of Vietnam’s newly introduced visa policies, groundbreaking promotional campaigns over the past year, and the enhanced global positioning of its tourism brand. Additionally, Vietnam’s tourism products and services have become increasingly diverse, appealing, and high-quality, catering to the evolving preferences of travelers.
Recently, the government issued Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP, granting visa exemptions under a tourism stimulus program for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland from March 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
This policy is expected to serve as a crucial boost in attracting international visitors from these three European markets to Vietnam this year.
