Thailand continues to support the Vietnamese cycling team after the incident
In the emergency, the Thai Cycling Federation quickly provided 27 bicycles along with much necessary equipment, helping the Vietnamese athletes be ready to compete.
The Thai Cycling Federation supported the Vietnamese cycling team by preparing 27 bicycles for the athletes to choose from for the 2025 Asian Road Cycling Championship, taking place from February 7 to 16. These bicycles are currently being transported from Bangkok to the competition venue.

In addition, the Thai Cycling Federation also purchased 18 new helmets, 18 pairs of racing shoes, and 18 sets of pedals to ensure that the Vietnamese team members had the equipment for the competition following the unfortunate incident.
Regarding compensation, the event organizers, along with the Asian Cycling Federation, will have a meeting with representatives from the Vietnam Cycling and Motorcycle Federation to discuss and agree on appropriate support measures for the Vietnamese team.
Despite the unexpected setback, the timely support from the host country, Thailand, has helped the Vietnamese cycling team overcome difficulties and focus on delivering their best performances at the continental championship.

On the afternoon of February 5, the Vietnamese road cycling team arrived in Thailand to prepare for the competition. After landing at Bangkok Airport, the athletes traveled by bus provided by the organizers, while the bicycles, spare wheels, and other competition equipment were transported by a dedicated truck.
Unfortunately, the truck caught fire. The cause of the incident has not yet been determined, but the damage to the Vietnamese team is significant. Some athletes who competed in two events were required to bring two specialized bikes, making the loss even more severe.
Upon receiving the news, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh – Head of the High-Performance Sports Department I, instructed Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Secretary-General of the Vietnam Cycling and Motorcycle Federation and Head of the Vietnamese Cycling Team, to quickly work with the organizers to find a solution and ensure that the athletes had the necessary equipment to compete as scheduled.

The Vietnamese team participating in this event consists of team leader Nguyen Ngoc Vu, two coaches Mai Cong Hieu and Huynh Van Chanh, along with the riders Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, Lam Thi Kim Ngan, Lam Thi Thuy Duong (women’s team), and Nguyen Van Duong, Nguyen Tuan Vu (men’s team). Additionally, a group of young riders includes Ngoc Thao, Be Hong, Xuan Loc, Quoc Ha, Dan Binh, Anh Hao, Thi My, Yen Linh, Van Phap, and Ngoc Linh.
